COLLABORATION AGREEMENT
between
the Department of Archival and Library Heritage of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Cultural Activities, represented by the Department official, Dr. Antonio Detoni Litta, on behalf of the Head of the Department, Prof. Salvatore Italia, hereinafter “The Department”; the Centre for Research and Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary Studies of Maribor University, represented by Prof. Peter Kokol, hereinafter “The Centre”;
the International Institute of Archival Science of Maribor, represented by its director, Dr Peter Pavel Klasinc, hereinafter “The Institute”;
the State Archive of Trieste, represented by its director, Dr. Grazia Tatò
WHEREAS
Since 2001 the International Institute of Archival Sciences of Maribor, which represents several countries, has been part of the Centre for Research and Interdisciplinary and Multidiciplinary Studies unit of study and research in the field of archival science, and publishes – in the journal entitled “Atlanti” – the proceedings of the meetings it will organize annually.
The Institute has expressed its intention to transfer its headquarters to Italy, at the State Archive of Trieste.
The Centre has declared that there are no legal obstacles to the transfer of the headquarters and activities of the Institute at the above-mentioned Archive.
A body of this nature requires the support of an Archival Institute and the State Archive of Trieste, because of its geographical position, is a suitable location for the Institute.
The Department endorses the request of transferring the headquarters at the State Archive.
HAVING REGARD TO the Act establishing the Institute at Maribor University
the following is agreed:
Art. 1
The State Archive of Trieste shall host at its seat the headquarters of the Institute as well as its library and archive free of charge; shall organize – with the Institute – international initiatives in the archival field, in order to widen, discuss and disseminate the archival science through the comparison of international experiences and the publication of “Atlanti”.
Art. 2
The State Archive of Trieste shall agree in advance all initiatives concerning the activities as per art. 1.
Art. 3
The International Institute of Archival Science establishes its operational headquarters at the State Archive of Trieste. The Institute deposits its library, with the relevant fling system, and its archive at the State Archive.
Art. 4
The International Institute of Archival name and becomes the International Institute of Archival Science of Trieste and Maribor, with operational headquarters at the State Archive of Trieste and registered address at Maribor University.
Art. 5
The Centre shall appoint the Director of the Institute, after hearing the Department’s opinion.
